CODE OF CONDUCT

The Club encourages you to support your son/daughter by watching training/matches and competitions. We ask that you assist us by complying with The Football Association Administration Handbook, Codes of Conduct, our own Club Constitution and the following:

PLAYERS

This is the code that our Players must abide by along with the Codes of Conduct set out in The Football Association Administration Handbook. Please encourage them to do so.

Learn/adhere to the Laws of the Game
Practice/improve techniques, play skilfully
Play to win but remember to Enjoy yourself – Be a modest winner and gracious in defeat
Praise Skilful play by both teams
Have standards: Behaviour, Punctuality, Kit, Appearance, Politeness etc
Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques
Make every effort to develop your own sporting abilities in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina
Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance
Abide by the instructions of their coach and team officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of the code of the Club
Show respect towards match officials and team officials from either team
Show due respect to the interest of all supporters
Try to contribute and take part
Co operate with one another
Tolerate mistakes in self and others

DON’T

Argue/disagree with officials (Referees and assistant referees)
Appeal over zealously for decisions
Lose self control/temper
Retaliate
Over react when your team scores
Abuse or intimidate opponents
Time Waste
Play unfairly

PARENTS/GUARDIANS/SPECTATORS AND OFFICIALS

Praise rather than criticise
Praise skilful play on both teams
Praise good behaviour and attitudes to show adults value it
Emphasise playing skilful first, winning second
Display patience and persistence
Set high standards of behaviour
Be consistent
Help understand the rules
Respect the referee’s decision
Give attention to each of the children involved in football, not just the most talented
Give encouragement to everyone to participate in football
Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters
Promote and develop his own team having regard to the interest of the players, parents, supporters and the reputation of the National Game
Share knowledge and experience when invited to do so, taking into account the interest of the body that has requested this rather than personal interests
Always have regard to the best interests of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion of the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game
Make every effort to develop the sporting, technical and tactical levels of the Club/team and to obtain the best possible results by the team, using all permitted means
Resist all illegal or unsporting influences, including banned substances and techniques
Promote ethical principles
Show due respect to the interests of players, coaches, supporters and other officials, at their own club/team and others
Try to contribute and take part
Co operate with one another
Tolerate mistakes in self and others

DON’T

Force a child to play against their will
Over coach or manipulate players
Use jargon
Shout/argue/swear/become violent or use sarcasm
Ignore or put down those who need your help most
Assess players by their inability’s

Purbeck Panthers are keen to establish a good working relationship and we would like you to relax in the knowledge that your son/daughter is doing something that they enjoy and are in the hands of a caring responsible Club.

Serious breach of the above Code of Conduct or the guidelines set out by The Football Association may result in disciplinary action being taken and the removal of your son/daughter from membership of the Club. Please sign below as confirmation of your adherence to the Code and its requirements.

The Code of Conduct for Coaches

Coaches are expected to conform to ethical standards – not tolerate racism, bullying, swearing or general bad behaviour. Always set high standards of respect for one another. Your coaching would take into account everyone’s abilities and experience and not just be aimed at the more ‘gifted’ players.

Mutual Trust &a Respect

Concerned with the well being, safety and future of the individual

Relationship between coach and individual – encouraging and challenging individuals for responsibility for their own behaviour and performance yet the coach should be responsible for setting and monitoring actions of what is said to individuals, especially a young person as it could be misinterpreted by the player or outsiders.

Coaches should be honest & declare any conflict or coaching commitments.

Coaches should communicate and co operate with other professional bodies, doctors, educational etc

Coaches not to encourage players to violate rules of the sport or use prohibited drugs or other banned substances

Activities & training are appropriate to age, ability, gender and experience of the player

Treat opponents with due respect in victory and defeat

Accept appropriate responsibility for conduct of their players

Confidentiality of certain information

Not to exert undue influence on the player to obtain personal benefit or reward

Safety of players

Competence – an accumulation of knowledge
